Weekend Writing Warriors is a weekly blog hop where participants post up to eight sentences of their writing. You can find out more about it by clicking on the image below.

Fast forward to the end of Chalwen's conference with her three senior security chiefs. They've discussed the stricken starhopper and concluded that it was sabotage...

=====

Chalwen scowled. "Find someone involved in this, positive proof preferable, otherwise a plausible connection. If all else fails draw on your archives for someone we've left on a long leash up to now and bring them in. We need a show trial and some public display of closure." Her voice turned hard and grim. "Then we can conduct a proper investigation without everyone watching us."

The three took their cue and snapped to attention. As they turned to leave she muttered under her breath, "The Emperor will expect some public executions for this."

=====

You can see from the previous post the Ghosts of Innocence is now on sale in e-book format. I am waiting for a proof copy before releasing the paperback version, but meanwhile I am pleased to report that Smashwords approved the e-book for its premium catalogue. This means that it is now available through several major stores.

Being in charge means making tough decisions. I hope they're able to find the person responsible before someone innocent is blamed!

Congratulations on putting your book out there! Enjoyed today's excerpt, very matter of fact yet I have a feeling their plans will get hit with at least one monkey wrench in the works. Great 8!

Delores, I'm sorry to hear that. Please click "Contact me" (in the menu below the banner image) and let me know what's going wrong. I might be able to find some answers from Smashwords...

Millie, the word "scapegoat" comes to mind, an age-old practice when you're under pressure to produce answers :)

ED Martin, at least they are looking to blame someone guilty of something, just maybe not necessarily this thing :)

Veronica, Shayla Carver is just one great big walking monkey wrench!

Hang somebody, and just hope they're guilty. Public relations come first.

Yikes. Now we know why everyone was so nervous when she walked in. Great character revelation.

Heads will roll! Uh oh. Enjoyed your snippet.

The words "positive proof preferable" sound funny together... until you realize the speaker is saying--find someone to blame, better if they're guilty, but I'll take someone innocent, too.

Hidden in there is the threat of what will happen to them, if they don't out on a good show.

I guess they know what will happen if they don't find someone to blame. Scary, isn't it? Well done.

Sue Ann, hanging would be a mercy compared with what's in store...but that's a much later chapter.

Alexis, you got it!

Cara, Uh oh indeed!

Caitlin, they'll take someone they know is guilty of something rather than someone totally innocent. They aren't all bad, y'know ;)

Elaine, they do need a good scapegoat for sure.

Heads will roll... and doesn't seem to matter whose. The snippet revealed a great deal of her character.

Congrats for getting it approved for premium!

Karen, that was most definitely the idea :)

Lynda, it opens up a lot more channels and is not too hard to do. Mainly a matter of being extremely meticulous about the formatting.
