On the move again

Isn't it funny how often either nothing seems to go right, or everything seems to tick along nicely? I know the human mind is always on the lookout for patterns, but those kinds of periods in life always seem to stick in the mind.

Last week at work was way less frenetic than any other time this year. There's lots going on, but I found time to breathe, time to think. Yesterday, especially, I was able to sit down and apply some uninterrupted thought to some of the problems facing the team. Whether any of that thinking was worthwhile or not is still to be seen, but it was a refreshing change. Something I have badly missed.

Today, in a rare break in the un-Spring-like weather this year, I got out the paint and started some finishing touches on the pirate ship. Photos to follow when I have more progress to show.

And also today, I finally got around to submitting more novel chapters to Critique Circle. I've resigned myself to the fact that revisions are going to lag way behind the critiques, and decided to push more through the queue. This is going to be a long process, and right now it's standing in between me and some real writing.

Wow, that's awesome that you managed to do so many things! I always feel great when that happens.
I wish I could finish the half-a-chapter I've been working on for 3 days :(
I also know I'm having a good day when all the traffic lights are green and I catch the subway as soon as I step on the platform. I get off on little things O:)

Oh great, now you've just reminded me that I have to get off my rear and get things moving on the novel as well.

Nah, just joking! :) But I'm glad you're having one of *those* weeks. I have some big decisions to make in the coming weeks, writing wise.

And hey, can't wait to see the progress on the ship. It's getting to be that time of year . . .

Stefanie, little things like that can make a huge difference, can't they?

Mood, I'll do my best :)

David, it's about time I got off my butt to finish off that ship! It helps that spring is trying its darndest to break the winter damp. Makes me more inclined to get outside doing things.

Hi Ian,
And nothing like a bit of positive distraction to get us raring to go. Embrace these moments and continue to be inspired. Happy writing and happy pirate shipping :)
Take care eh

Hi Gary, the positive thoughts are definitely what's keeping me going these days. As you know, my other blog is all about focussing on the positives and wrestling all those pressures in life into their true perspective.

Congratz on getting things done. We moved our office this weekend, so real life is in total chaos right now. Wish me luck!

Those are the best kind of weeks! Glad to hear you finally got one. Sounds like it was long overdue.

I haven't been critting a darn thing lately, but I'm glad to hear you're making use of the sci-fi queue. Sounds like it's been a ghost town there lately. We fought so hard to get it split off from fantasy, it would be a shame to see it get lumped back in.

Hi Andrew, I went through the turmoil of an office move just before Christmas, so you have my sympathy. I hope things settle down for you soon. Good luck!

Long overdue indeed, Jean. I just hope I can make it last longer than a week :)

Yeah, that queue has been quiet. Only one story up this week, though there's a whole load queued up for next week.

I think a pirate ship is an essential addition to everyone's back yard, Charmaine :)

I know what you mean. It's tough sometimes, but finding those golden moments where you can squeeze in time for pure writing bliss is also very important...

Yes, Elizabeth. Some times are easier to manage than others, aren't they? But some regular "me" time is important.
