Nearly there!

With the sun finally out this unseasonally cold Spring, I was able to get out my paintbrush for some finishing touches. Cannon hatches and windows now complete, and some photos, as promised.

I still have to sort out a wheel. It definitely needs one. As I'm pessimistic about being able to buy anything suitable, I am having a go at making one. Not an easy task. We'll see how that goes.

  1. Ian, that's fantastic so far! Wow, I never even noticed the aftcastle before. It looks AMAZING!!! :)

Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the ship.

  2. Wow, Ian! It looks awesome! Just like the ship from Peter Pan! Your kids are so lucky! I would've loved one of these when I was a kid. Heck! I want one now! I'd move into it :D

  3. Presumably this a play boat for your kids? What a wonderful way to fire their imaginations. I bet they will want to be sleeping in it!

  4. David, yeah, I realise that stern section is kinda hidden in the background in most of the pictures I've posted.

Stephanie, I don't think I could aspire to the one from Peter Pan, that was awesome. But the kids have wanted this for years and I thought I'd better get on with it before they got too old.

Bazza, you got it right. Sleeping in it might be a bit difficult as, despite appearances, there's no actual "inside". The windows are fake. I tried to design in a covered cabin but the scale just didn't allow it to happen. Well, they still have the tree fort just the other side of the tyre swing :) Some old photos here.

  5. Just a quick note to say:

    Awesome! I am completely jealous!

  6. Many thanks Diane, Elizabeth, and Andrew. This has been an ambitious project, but totally worth it!

  7. Great work, Ian. The stern area looks as though it makes a perfect hideout for young buccaneers. Does she have a name yet?

  8. Hi Steve, that's a good question. No, we don't have a name yet! What an omission!

I love comments. Please feel free to join in the discussion.

I also try to respond to comments. I usually do so during the early evening (Pacific time) which may be many hours away from now!

So if you leave a comment and return some time later and I haven't responded yet, please don't think I'm ignoring you. I'm not. Honest.
