This is what happens when a husky decides summer has arrived

After the sunshine last week, Gypsy finally decided to start shedding her winter coat. Yes, that is a full carrier bag of fluff I combed out in a couple of ten-minute sittings, and there's more to come out yet!

  1. Yikes! That's an allergy attack waiting to happen for me. Dogs are awesome, but we will never occupy the same living space. Kudos to those who can handle it!

  2. Reminds me of our last dog, a Corgi. Every day I brushed out a cat-size ball of fur.

  3. Crystal, that is to you what a newly-mown lawn is to me. I don't think I'd have a lawn in my house either :)

Alex, I often wonder if there's a use for all that fluff. Plus all the fluff I pick out of the dryer each week.

Stephen, never knew Corgis were bad for that. At least with Gypsy it's a once-a-year thing.

  4. Wow! That's a lot of hair. Our three are shedding like crazy. Clippers come out tomorrow again for Leo's (Cocker Spaniel) second haircut of the season. So hot this year...

  5. Teresa, it was hot here a week ago. Back to rain today.

  6. Oh, my, Ian. I have a little chihuahua and she sheds all year round, but that would be a lifetime of hair from her! :-)

  7. I have a trash can out back that looks like that; only full of cat hair. My Calico is a brush whore :)

  8. Denise, yeah it's a bit different from year-round coat maintenance, it's winter's over I'm taking this overcoat OFF.

Donna, luckily our cats don't shed ... much.

  9. Same thing is happening with my cat. You don't need a calendar or a thermometer to tell when summer arrives -- you just have the look at the fur they leave behind. And you can tell it's fall when they stop shedding.
