Ahoy there, Mateys!

Back in March, the kids put forward their wish list for the pirate ship that I've been promising them for the last couple of years.

Since then I've been working on finishing that front bed, which was a necessary precursor because there was a big heap of compost in the way of the pirate ship that made its way into the bed.

Now that's done, I need to crack on. Expectations duly set, I now have my working drawings for the project.

Here's the master plan for how it should look. A proper pirate ship, masts, wheel, crows nest and all. To give an idea of scale, the whole thing is 24' in length, and 6' wide at its widest point.

And here are the construction drawings for the platform. With a solid base like this, decking and sides will be relatively easy to attach.

Wish me luck!

Good lord, man! My mind simply boggles at the sheer size of this thing. That's amazing! Your kids are soooo lucky. :)

Now that is an ambitious plan!

Well, it's big, but no more ambitious than the tree fort (follow the "Projects" tag to see about that).

David, big city life has many attractions, but this is one of the compensations of a more rural lifestyle. We are lucky to live on a big enough lot that we have odd corners to tuck away things like this. And if we have room for it, my thought is why fart around with half measures?

Well, that's strange. I found a load of duplicates of your last comment, David, and tried to tidy them up. In the middle of that, it looked like I'd done something silly and deleted the lot. So I posted and apology for my mistake, and lo & behold they are all back again. *relief*

Yes. Open country and mountains. On a clear day we can see mountains from our deck. Priceless.

Blogspot's been glitchy all day. I've been trying for hours to log in and correct all those duplicates, so thanks so much for doing it on your end. So frustrating!

You're welcome David. So relieved to know I was just suffering from Glitchy Blogspot, and not the more usual Terminal Stupidity.
