While folks farther east know it's winter, out here on the west coast it's been mild and perpetually damp this month, especially at the weekends.
Persistent rain and drizzle, occasionally relieved by dense fog, have stymied attempts to take down the outside lights and decorations.
Until now.
Home early from work for once to find it not only still light, but dry and sunny too, and the lights are finally down and packed away and Christmas is officially over.
How's your January been? Goals and resolutions still going strong, or casualties of reality?

Eleven months to Christmas lol.
You're right: Christmas may be over, but it's still a winter wonderland out here on the East coast ... and will be for quite some time. But I don't put up decorations, so Christmas ended for me on Dec. 26th. :)
Good luck with your goals, sir! I'm still going strong, myself.
I also live on the West Coast (Portland, Oregon, so my weather probably isn't much different than yours. I'm still working on my New Year's resolutions.
We've been cold, but no snow. Too far south.
Not sure what happened to January.
Delores, yeah, that's what worries me :)
David, bet you were happy with the dump of snow in NY, even if it wasn't as much as forecast.
Stephen, yeah, they don't call it the "Wet Coast" for nothing!
Alex, I'm with you there. New Year celebrations, then you blink and it's February.
As a native of the west coast I never breath a true sigh of relief until the end of March comes and goes.
Seems Old Man Winter goes south for the first two months. Upon his return he realizes he's goofed up and gives us a cold white send off somewhere in late March.
But, I am enjoying his absence. Gotta love those snowbirds!
In the meantime my outside renovations are done, grass is green and the crocuses are early!
I've been managing to keep my goal going over at Write Brain Challenge where I post a daily 15 min photo prompted free write (now there's a mouthful, hahaha), I'm really enjoying it!

Jenny, each winter seems to be different. This year it's mild and damp rather than crisp and bright, but I guess that comes from living out on the island. Good luck keeping up with your writing goal. After a month it should be getting into a habit and hopefully will be easier to keep up from now on.
HEY Botanist! I like the term, plotser, and I guess that's what I am. Thanks for the visit. As you can see, I'm up and running...and writing.
Glad to see you back in action, Denise. Yes, I like the term "plotser" - I think it describes me perfectly :)
