Canadian anniversary

This week we celebrated fifteen years since arriving in Canada. We treated ourselves to a nice meal out. The orders were fairly predictable: steak, steak, steak, pizza!

The weird thing is, it hardly seems any time since we were celebrating our tenth year here. Time is flying by these days. We’ve got older, the kids have grown up, pets have come and gone.

Although time seems to be flying in recent years, it feels odd now looking back on photos from fifteen years ago, how much everything has changed. Those days feel like a lifetime ago. Well, for the kids that’s not far from the mark. They were young when we moved. But even I have now spent over a quarter of my life in Canada, and I couldn’t imagine going back.

Hi Ian - I can see how you're both so settled ... it's a wonderful country and I certainly wouldn't mind living there - still I had a good slice ... though there's lots more to experience.

Congratulations on your 15 years ... and here's to many more enjoyable years ahead ... dinner sounds good! Cheers Hilary

Congratulations and I know what you mean. Even ten years ago seems like a lifetime ago.

The older we get, the faster those years fly by. Congrats on fifteen years in your new home. Steak and pizza sounds like a great way to celebrate. (Well, maybe a wee spot of wine, too...)

Hilary, we're very settled indeed.

Alex, it's strangely contradictory how some time spans feel like ages ago, and yet time seems to pass so quickly.

Susan, as I was driving, the wine had to wait until later :)

That's a great milestone to celebrate. Congratulations, Ian! You're all true Canucks now, I think it's safe to say.

Pass the poutine! Or Tim Horton's. Or milk in a bag. I dunno ... are these things quintessential Canadian?

David, Tim Horton's used to be good until they got bought out :( Not sure about milk in a bag, we used to have that in Guernsey years ago but never seen or heard of it here.
