Thought for the day

As long as you start off with sufficient credibility ...
You can inspire whole nations with powerful and resonant
"I will do"s

Witness the moon race in the 60s

But ...
you only earn lasting respect with meaningful
"I have done"s

What have you done today to make a difference in your world?

And making a difference is all that really matters, isn't it?

That's right Alex. Needn't be on a big scale, maybe only to one other person, but without that what is the point? And I guess I should have qualified that as positive difference.

I wish I had a good answer to your question. I fear I haven't done much today to improve the world.

Stephen, your stories entertain and enrich the lives of hundreds of people :) I think that counts.

I'm steadily working my way through editing someone's book for her. It sounds insignificant, but her previous proofreader stiffed her. (If she hadn't, I wouldn't find an average of five errors per page.)

So I'm making a difference by actually doing my job to the absolute best of my ability.

That's fantastic, Misha. And that is a staggering error rate for something that's been "professionally" proofread!
